I wrote so many drafts for the ‘about me’ page to be all cool and professional but ended up cringing really hard because it sounded so far from my weird and awkward self.

i think it’s just really hard to put oneself out there authentically, especially as someone who doesn’t like talking about myself.

So here’s my best attempt:

I was born in Hong kong but grew up mostly in beijing, china; I graduated with a BFA in film production from emerson college in ’23.

i love so many different aspects of filmmakinG, from writing to directing, acting to shooting, and most of all editing and scoring. I just love how everything comes together in the post-production process (or sometimes horrifyingly doesn’t).

my love for film really comes from its relationship to music, since the first movie i ever saw (age 3) was ‘amadeus‘ and it traumatized my little self so much i guess i must’ve internalized it into somewhat of a passion.

even though i started from classical training, i love incorporating genres outside the orchestra. It’s just amazing how a short piece of music can sometimes express emotions just as powerfully as an hour long film.

Stories that I connect with the most, both as a consumer and creator, touch on mental health and how the relationship with the self affects those with others.

I don’t know if it’s because I am struggling with it myself and this is my outlet for figuring it out, or if it’s because it makes for really good drama. probably both.

all I know is that, ever since I got my hands on my dad’s camera at 10, and found final cut on his desktop, this has been what gives me meaning to things that would otherwise plague me.
